Core Service Areas
Core Service One:
1.1 Provide training, information, and advice to LEAs in applying for and retaining E-rate funds, in cooperation with appropriate ISBE personnel.
1.2 Provide information and offer assistance to LEAs in applying for and retaining available state and federal grant funding
1.3 Provide consistent information and offer assistance and training to LEAs on National Educational Technology Standards (NETS-S)
Statewide Activities:
• LTCs will develop a NETS-S training component to provide a consistent statewide deliverable.
1.4 Provide consistent information and awareness to LEAs on federal and state grant specific initiatives (i.e. technology literacy definition, state technology plan).
Core Service Two: Technical Assistance for Hardware/Software, Infrastructure and Technology Policies
2.2 Provide information and advice to LEAs in areas such as: networking, e-mail servers, firewalls, content filters, and infrastructure.
2.3 Deliver, support or co-sponsor workshops/conferences regarding hardware/software, infrastructure and technology policies.
2.4 Provide information and advice to LEAs on technology policies, (i.e. Acceptable Use Policies, CIPA, TIPP, legal issues, etc).
Core Service Three: Leveraging Resources through Collaboration
3.1 Participate in monthly schedule statewide meetings between ISBE consultant(s) and LTCs Directors.
3.1a Participation in monthly discretionary meetings as determined by ISBE consultants.
Statewide Activities:
• ISBE and LTC personnel will meet on a monthly basis to ensure flow of communication. Topics may include: professional development, communication, field based issues, forward planning, etc. ; Participate in scheduled ISBE/LTC planning, information and collaboration meetings.
3.2 Maintain a current technology point of contact per district to communicate state and federal information and requirements.
3.3 In collaboration with ISBE, participate in the development and support administration of the annual LTC online needs assessment.
Core Service Four: Technology Planning
4.1 Train districts as appropriate to revise district technology plans.
4.1a Train/advise districts as needed regarding participation in online technology planning.
4.1b Monitor and inform school districts of pending expiration no less than one year in advance and routinely monitor through the final year.
Statewide Activity:
• LTC and ISBE personnel will participate in statewide calibration training on the technology plan criteria.
4.2 Participate in the development of the state technology plan as directed by ISBE, and share information about the plan with
documented participation and development of plan
• Assist districts in developing and filing midcourse corrections, drafts and final technology plans as appropriate throughout the year.
Core Service Five: Professional Development
5.1 Provide technology-related professional development opportunities that address identified statewide initiatives and local needs in partnership with ROEs and other intermediate agencies to avoid duplication of services.
